Hackers break Yandex Go’s official group on VKontakte

MOSCOW, Dec 21 (PRIME) -- Perpetrators have hacked the official group of service Yandex Go, the mobile application of service Yandex.Taxi, on social network VKontakte and some users could have received phishing messages inviting them to take part in a fake competition, Yandex said late on Monday in a statement.

“Today our VKontakte group was hacked. The wrongdoers sent out an invitation to take part in a fake competition to some subscribers of our page. The message had links to phishing websites. We have nothing to do with this competition or the message,” Yandex said.

Media reported earlier that the page’s subscribers received the letters, some clicked on the links and cash was written off their bank cards.

The company apologized and said that the fake messages were deleted two minutes after the mailout. Yandex and VKontakte are investigating the incident.
